Tim L. Smith - Aikikai

Tim began his martial arts training in Shotokan as a child, in Orlando, FL.

Tim was first introduced to Yoshinkan Aikido in 1993, in Los Angeles.

In 1996, Tim moved to NC and began training in Shihan Fumio Toyoda's style of Aikido under

Ned Danielly at Choshinkan Dojo, becoming a member of AAA (Aikido Association of America).

During his time as a member of AAA, Tim supplemented his Aikido training with

Kung Fu and USAF (United States Aikido Federation) Aikido training via the UNC Aikido Club,

where he also taught self-defense classes. While studying abroad, via UNC,

Tim also trained in Aikido in Jerusalem, Israel.

Following Toyoda's death in 2001, and as a means to further understand deeper variations of Aikido,

Tim began training in a more contemporary style of Aikido known as Chendokan,

developed by Phillip Chenique, combined with Arnis and Atemi Ryu Jujitsu.

In late 2007, Tim returned to traditional Aikido training with colleagues from AAA,

later becoming a member of AWA, the Aikido World Alliance.

Tim has been the Owner and Chief Intructor at Jishukan Aikido dojo since June 2009.

Tim L. Smith is a former Law Enforcement Officer (2003-2011)

and holds a Master's Degree in Philosophy, specializing in Political Theory and Ethics.

In addition, Tim presently studies Law, with emphasis on the US Constitution and Property Rights.

"Honesty in training far exceeds the beauty in training, because in the streets the attacker is real

and the intent to harm you is honest. Train not to make the technique look good, but to make it work,

your life may depend on it." - Tim L. Smith
